Hi friends,

I accidentally sent part two of this newsletter first. So, Here's part one:)

I'm excited to share some images with you that are going to the National Western Stock Show (Coors Western Art) in Denver, CO. The show opens on Jan 4, 2022 and runs through Jan 23rd. These paintings are conceptual in nature and I'd love to hear your thoughts about them.

Open Range- Convergence

30x48

Oil on Linen

"Open Range- Convergence" is a painting about the need for respect and balance between modern life and nature. If you've ever driven through ranch lands you've probably seen "Open Range" signs. This warns drivers to be careful of livestock that may be near or on the road. If a driver hits an animal, the human is at fault, not the animal. It seems an interesting metaphor for our need to be good stewards of the land, the animals, and the environment we live in. There is a lot of great stuff that is part of our modern life, but we must be careful not to forget our profound duty to care for the natural world.

Getting Ready For Show

12x12

Oil on Linen Panel

This and the next painting came from watching people, young and old, prepare to show their animals at the fair. They take great pride in the animals and the honest work it takes to care for them. I decided to use invented color (yellow and purple) as a means of creating emotion in the image.

Scrub-a-dub-dub

12x12

Oil on Linen Panel

"Scrub-a-dub-dub" depicts a young girl getting her steer ready to show at the fair. It is the culmination of a lot of time and effort and reward for a job well done.

Love to hear your thoughts about these works of art.

Thanks for sharing this journey with me!

Best regards,

Ken
