I returned recently from participating in the Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational (LPAPA) in Southern California. Living in Idaho has accustomed me to wide open spaces with only a sprinkling of people and I like this way of life. However, I must say that in spite of too many people, I had a great time, relished the mild weather and enjoyed painting such a beautiful place. Laguna Beach has a unique history. It's roots are in the arts, especially in plein air painting. This year they celebrate 100 years since the beginning of the Laguna Beach Art Association. For an American west coast town that's a long time. I was delighted to view the current exhibit at the Laguna Art Museum that depicts the history of outdoor painting in Laguna and the amazing artists who lived and worked there. Check it out with this link or do a search for it on the web.
